The Author
When Christopher Kastensmidt was born in Space City, it is reported that the doctor on duty said: “Houston, we have a problem!”
And he meant it.
Chris spent a good deal of his childhood getting into trouble, and was eventually relegated to spending his teen years working in lawn care, telemarketing, a car wash, a grocery store, and an arcade. It all made him very tired.
He decided to try a career in something easier and entered Rice University. At first, he couldn’t decide between History or Computer Engineering, but eventually opted for the latter (as was mentioned previously, he wanted something easier, not harder).
Chris worked as a programmer at IBM and a microprocessor architect at AMD and Intel. When life became too easy, he swapped his high-paying job in California for a penniless startup in Brazil called Southlogic Studios. He also traded a nice house for sleeping on a friend’s living room floor. Most people, including Chris himself, think he may have gone a bit too far.
Nevertheless, it all worked out in the end. A decade later, Southlogic Studios was bought by Ubisoft Brazil where Chris became Creative Director and Studio Coordinator. Currently, Chris is teaching Game Design, Production, and other subjects at different universities around Brazil.
Along the way, he met his beautiful Brazilian wife Fernanda and they had a smiling baby boy named Lynx.
Chris has been inventing stories since before he could write, but his work was first published in 2005.
He would like to take credit for the stories of Gerard van Oost and Oludara, but truth be told, Gerard and Oludara tell him the stories and he just types them.
