“Fortuitous Meeting” a Nebula Award Finalist

Today the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America announced that “The Fortuitous Meeting of Gerard van Oost and Oludara” is a Nebula Award finalist in the category of Best Novelette.

This is the greatest honor I’ve received as a writer and a huge day for The Elephant and Macaw Banner. It’s a humbling experience, and I deeply thank all the professionals who saw fit to nominate me for this award.

The ceremony will be held in Washington D.C. on the 21st of May, and I plan to attend.  The full press release can be found here.

“Fortuitous Meeting” on Writer Tamago’s top fifteen picks for 2010

“The Fortuitous Meeting of Gerard van Oost and Oludara” made Catherine Schaff-Stump’s Top Fifteen Reading Picks for 2010 over at Writer Tamago.  As you can see, the story is in some fine company there.

Catherine writes:

You can get this unique historical fantasy in back issues of Realms of Fantasy. This fantasy involves a Portuguese explorer, an African dragon slayer, and the fantastic adventures they encounter in the New World. Not to be missed, this first episode introduces the characters.

Catherine is a writer herself, and recently published YA novel Hulk Hercules: Professional Wrestler, so her opinion means a lot to me.  I’m highly honored by this recognition.

Thank you so much, Catherine!
